RW Observer is a RuneScape player and regarded by some as an anomaly. He is seen standing in the Clan Camp of world 8 for close to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Nobody knows the true purpose of this player, or why he stands there however several theories have been proposed.
History[]

The first confirmed report of seeing RW Observer came on August 3rd 2009, when a player named "Minus Onee" saw a level 3 account named RW Observer standing near the Varrock East Bank for over a week straight on world 1. This is the first confirmed report of seeing RW Observer however others have claimed to have seen him standing in Falador as far back as early 2005.
Through 2010 and 2011, RW Observer could be seen usually late at night standing at the Grand Exchange on low population worlds for about 4 to 6 hours. He never spoke, never moved and never acknowledged any other players. In early 2012 RW Observer was nowhere to be seen, he was not spotted again until August of 2012 when he was seen standing at the entrance to Daemonheim in world 7 with another level 3 account named "Ayahuasca2". These two accounts stood in silence at Daemonheim until January of 2013, when they moved to Varrock Square on world 3. The entire time these accounts never uttered a word or moved at all.
In March of 2013 the accounts moved yet again, this time to the Clan Camp in world 8 where they remain today. These two accounts are both level 4's with very low skill levels (35 and 37) and never move from the spots where they stand. It has been reported that RW Observer stands at the Clan Camp for over 16 hours a day while Ayahuasca2 stands at the Clan Camp for over 8 Hours a day.[1]
On Monday, August 26th RW Observer and the accounts he stands with moved to another location. Still on world 8, they can be see standing by the Musician near the clan camp. It is unclear what sparked this change in location however the amount of time that he is online has not been changed in any way. As well, another low level account has been seen with RW Observer at the new location, with the name of Ibogaine2. It is unknown if this is another account of Ayahausca2's.
In early September of 2013, a YouTube video was released of RW Observer conversing with another player, the video is edited to show several lines of a 20 minute long conversation, and it is unknown in what context the conversation was in, be it a fight or a question and answer. Regardless of this video, RW Observer and another account, named RW Insomnia still stand at the clan camp for hours a day.
RW Observer-Is not a Mystery

As of Late-November of 2013, the activity of RW Observer and similar accounts is very much on the decline, officially RW Observer has only been seen three times at the clan camp, for varying lengths of time. Though RW Observer has been reported to be in a lobby for lengths of time, daily. Though this has not been confirmed.
Through early 2014, the times that RW Observer was in the clan camp were extremely sporadic, both in length and time of day. In February and March, RW Observer was not reported at the clan camp, rumors of a similar account in Varrock West Bank were reported but no hard evidence exists of the account actually being there. In late April of 2014, RW Observer is back at the clan camp for several hours a day. It will take several weeks to determine if a schedule is fixed or if the login/logout times are sporadic.
As of late July 2015, RW Observer has been seen standing in Varrock Square in world 3 by the fountain for periods of time, ranging from several minutes to several hours every day, often in the evenings.
Theories of Existence and Purpose[]
Several theories exist over why these two accounts stand in the same spot in silence, listed below are the most accepted theories.
RW Observer and Ayahuasca2 work for Jagex as moderators.
Many believe that the two accounts are both moderators stationed in the clan recruitment area to keep an eye out for rule breakers. RW Observer has also been seen in Zezima friends chat, a common place to see many rules broken. It has been reported that RW Observer has muted several players in August of 2013 that were using offensive language in the Clan Camp. As well, Ayahausca2 has been seen to disconnect players from the game that are using Auto Typers and other bots to advertise their clans. Although it is unlikely that these players are Jagex Moderators, a more probable possibility exists that they could be Player Moderators. No proof exists, however this still is a widly accepted theory.[2]
RW Observer and Ayahuasca2 work for a RWT/Bot Company.
With both accounts being low levels and both being online for long periods of time, some believe that these accounts are used by RWT or Bot Companies to communicate with customers about their products or the status's of their orders. No confirmed evidence of this exists however some see this to be their function.[3]
RW Observer and Ayahuasca2 are price check bots or information spammers in a friends chat.
Once again, no proof of this theory exists however it is possible that RW Observer and Ayahuasca2 are info spammers or price check bots in a friends chat. Being that they are low level accounts and are online for long periods of time, however due to the fact that RW Observer has been around for years, this theory seems unlikely.

Occasionally RW Observer or Ayahuasca2 will move several spaces and then move back to their spot, or they will change their outfit or the item they are wielding. Saturday, August 17th 2013, 7:15 PM Eastern Time -- World 8, Clan Camp -- RW Observer logged in and out repeatedly, moved two spaces and then returned to his usual spot where he has since stood in silence, and motionless for the past 3 hours.
Monday, August 26th 2013, 6:34 PM Eastern Time -- World 8, Clan Camp -- Since August 25th another account has been standing in RW Observer's place, the account's name is RW Paradigm. It is accepted by all that this is RW Observer being that the two accounts are never online at the same time.
Thursday, October 3rd 2013, 2:52 PM Eastern Time -- World 8, Clan Camp -- Since Mid-September of 2013, RW Observer has been seen at the clan camp for only 7 to 10 hours a day, cut down from the 16 to 24 hours that he stood months earlier. Ayahuasca2 is online for what can be several minutes to several hours. It is unknown what caused this change, but he can be seen at the Clan Camp from approximately 1 PM to 11 PM Eastern time. A possibility exists that he switches to another account at the end of this time period, however no new RW account has been seen in the vicinity after 11 PM.
Saturday, November 30th 2013, 2040z UTC -- World 3, Clan Camp -- According to a recent report of RW Observer and Ayahuasca2 being on the decline, I took to the Clan Camp on World 3 and spent a few hours waiting. From 1300z to 1900z no account appeared, at 2000z RW Observer logged in and is still standing there as I type this message. There is no sign of Ayahuasca2, Ibogaine2 or any related RW Accounts at this time.
Tuesday, October 21st 2014, 9:48 Pm, Central time. Spotted at draynor lodestone where he's stood still for an extended period of time without moving. No response from him. Is wearing solomons store cosmetics with a golden pitchfork.
Thursday, July 30th 2015, 2:13 PM Eastern Time. At the Varrock fountain, he was observed to have accepted a trade request, and then cancel. He then move a space up and back to correct his position.
Friday, July 31st 2015, 00:30 AM GMT/UtC + 2:00. At the varrock fountain he was spoken to by a player and waved to this player. while examined his equipment was warlord headress overrided by a cabaret hat, a Jolly Roger cape, priest gown overrided by the cabaret outfit, a diamond jubilee souvenir flag and a cabaret boots and gloves override.
Friday, July 31st 2015, 06:45 PM Eastern/ 22:45 UTC. RW Observer is not present at Varrock Fountain, rather a low level account named RW Esoteric is present. It is behaving in the same manner as RW Observer and has been there for roughly 30 minutes. It is wearing a black fine shirt with black pants, and is wielding a snowball.
