Zezima, as seen on the hiscores.

Zezima is a cyberworld celebrity and Player Moderator that is known for having been the highest ranked person in RuneScape overall.[2] He started playing in 2001, after a friend showed him the game, and has been playing since. He was the first player to achieve level 99 in Slayer, a total level of 1980 and 2079, and one billion experience overall. Zezima has been cited as "arguably the most famous player of the game", and had been quoted in the back of the book Betrayal at Falador. As of June 2012, he is ranked 50th in the hiscores.

RuneScape career

Zezima2002

Zezima in position 34 in the 2002 hiscores.

Zezima started playing RuneScape in late June/early July of 2001, after one of his friends from the game Triple Triad X messaged him that he knew of a game that Zezima would never be any good at, RuneScape. He chose the name because it was his last name, and said that he would never change the name even if he could. His first 99 skill was Smithing, which he achieved in July 2002, followed by 99 Cooking on 10 November 2002 and 99 Fishing on 30 November 2003. He first achieved the top rank in the hiscores in October 2003, but lost it when RuneScape 2 was released as he didn't train Runecrafting until Choppermad (who was ranked two at the time) reached level 73 in the skill.[3]

He reached level 47 Runecrafting the first day he did it, level 63 on his second day, and soon got the number one position back again. He achieved his 20th level 99 in Slayer on 9 July 2005, becoming the first player to achieve level 99 in the skill. He achieved level 1980 total on 9 July 2005, and level 2079 total on 4 October 2005, becoming the first player to achieve those milestones as well. He became ranked top 100 in all skills on 19 March 2006, but has since lost that position. He said in a 2006 interview that he mainly plays the game for fun; he sets challenges for himself and tests his limits.[3]

On 9 August 2006, Zezima got married to Elianestp in RuneScape. During the wedding, many close friends were present including Merchers, Mod Peter, Carmyno and Mod Mark. The wedding was an invitation-only event.

In June 2007, Zezima became the first person to attain one billion experience overall. After the release of Summoning in January 2008, he lagged behind other players in the hiscores. On his YouTube channel Zezima0213, he stated that he quit playing competitively as the game is "getting progressively easier over time", and that he lost a sense of accomplishment in what he worked hard to achieve.[4]

As of 26 May 2012, Zezima has a maxed out overall level of 2,496, and is ranked 48th. He has 200 million experience in two skills, Thieving and Cooking.[1]

Betrayal at Falador and Jagex YouTube subscription

Jagex Moderator Mark had talked to Zezima about Jagex's plan to quote him in the RuneScape novel Betrayal at Falador, asked if he would like to be involved, and he accepted.[5] The quote, "The best thing ever (that doesn't give XP)" had been featured in the back of the book and originally appeared on the product page of the Jagex Store, but has since been removed from the page.

In late 2008, the official Jagex YouTube channel, thejagexchannel, had subscribed to Zezima on the site, making it their only subscription.[6] The subscriptions list on the Jagex channel has since been made unavailable to the public.[7]

Recognition

According to Mod Mark, Zezima is arguably the most famous player of the game.[5] He made it onto the list of biggest role models in a study done by Cartoon Network's New Generations 2007 show.[2]
